William E. (Rick) Richter, III

William E. (Rick) Richter, III of Jack, AL passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home. He was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Bro. Ron Wagner and Dr. Dale Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until service time.

Rick proudly served in the United States Army and was a dedicated member of the Whitewater Long Hunters for over 40 years. He was a true outdoorsman who spent his life hunting, fishing, and canoeing. Rick was most at home in the woods and on the water. He worked the land with the same steady hand, raising a strong garden and taking pride in the flowers he grew. He lived simply, valued hard work, and found peace in nature.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Rebecca S. Richter, and his parents, Bill and Iris Richter.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Patsy B. Richter, Jack, AL; two sons, Jeb Stuart Richter (Emily), Tuscaloosa, AL; Joshua King Richter (Ashley), New Hope, AL; two step-sons, Charles C. Huskins (Mary), Waxahachie, TX; Leonard M. Thomspon, Jr. (Heather), Westminster, CO; two granddaughters, Allyson Rebecca Richter and Abigail Lynn Thompson; sister, Norma Riley, Andalusia, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Hayward Legg, John Legg, Steve Hawthorne, Randy Trimm, Phil Rugg, and Chris McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers are Brandy Bruton, Billy Waddell, Jay Morie, Tim Skipper, Darrell Hager, Wayne Kuriger, and Davy Hobbs.
