Wheeler Hilton Wilson

Wheeler Hilton Wilson of Chancellor, AL, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2025. He was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Chancellor Assembly of God Church with Bro. Robin Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until service time.

Wheeler dedicated over 50 years of his life to ministry, faithfully serving his community and sharing the message of hope and faith. A graduate of the Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida, he combined his spiritual calling with a deep sense of duty, shaped early on by his service in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he pursued a lifelong passion for aviation as an aircraft mechanic, eventually retiring from a career that reflected both his technical skill and love for flight.

Outside of work, Wheeler found joy in simple, meaningful things. He was a talented carpenter who loved woodworking, and he especially enjoyed building intricate model airplanes—a lifelong reflection of his love for flight. Most of all, he cherished time with his family, and his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Everything he did was grounded in love, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the skies above.

Wheeler was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Nelle Wilson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Nola Wilson, Chancellor, AL; daughter, Donna Frost, Chancellor, AL; three sons, David Wilson, Enterprise, AL; Douglas Wilson, Chancellor, AL; Darrin Wilson (Angela), Fleetwood, NC; six grandchildren, Misty Richard (Jason), Julie Russell (TW), Jennifer Jackson (James), Jake Johns (Tori), Emily Wilson-Porter (Mathew), Erin Wilson, and Richard Peak; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Linda Kirkley, Titusville, FL; brother, Gayle Wilson, Port Lavaca, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
