With profound sadness, yet deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of Tommie Allen Harding, devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, proud great-grandmother, sister, and treasured friend. Tommie passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 87, with her husband by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama, with Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing and Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M., followed by interment at Meadowlawn Cemetery.

For the last eight years, Tommie faced Alzheimer’s disease with remarkable courage, grace, and unwavering dignity. Although the disease gradually took much from her, it never diminished the kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit that defined who she was. She met each day with quiet determination, continuing to find joy in life’s simple blessings and in the people she loved. She was the very embodiment of a Southern lady—gracious, compassionate, and genuinely interested in everyone she met.

Born on April 17, 1939, to the late Ira “Pete” Allen and Sally Mock Allen of New Brockton, Alabama, Tommie spent nearly all of her life in Coffee County, leaving only briefly for a two-year stay in Jesup, Georgia. Her roots ran deep, and so did her love for her community. Through countless acts of kindness, generous hospitality, and unwavering faith, she quietly enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Tommie devoted thirty years as a distinguished civil servant with the Department of the Army, including twenty-one years in the Protocol Office at Fort Rucker. There she became widely known for her exceptional Southern hospitality as she welcomed military leaders, civilian officials, and distinguished visitors from around the world. Her warm smile, gracious manner, and attention to detail made every guest feel honored and at home. She later served as Manager of the Army Aviation Museum Foundation, helping preserve the rich history and proud legacy of Army Aviation for future generations. Above every accomplishment, Tommie treasured her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-one years, Thomas H. Harding; her son, Steven Ira Watson (Cindy) of Minden, Louisiana; her daughter, Jennifer Watson Hughes of Enterprise, Alabama; five grandchildren, Eric Hughes (Katie) of Springville, Alabama; Brent Watson (Rikki Leigh) of Headland, Alabama; Nicole Daye Graham (Stephen) of Dallas, Texas; Craig Hughes (Gib) of Enterprise, Alabama; and Garrett Watson (Krista) of Wicksburg, Alabama; along with eleven precious great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her sister Glenda Heath from Gainesville, Georgia, many nieces, nephews, and her beloved cat sneeky.

Tommie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Faye Tisdale.

Those who knew Tommie will remember far more than the positions she held or the years she lived. They will remember her gentle smile, her welcoming heart, her unwavering faith, her quiet strength, and her remarkable ability to make every person she encountered feel valued and loved. Her life was a testament to grace, humility, generosity, and enduring love.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in the blessing of having known and loved Tommie. Her legacy of faith, kindness, compassion, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and an example of a life lived with extraordinary grace.
