Shawn Benway of New Brockton, AL passed away, Thursday, December 11, 2025. He was 41.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Rev. Nate Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.  

Shawn was a devoted family man whose greatest joy in life was his children. He loved Auburn football and could always be counted on to cheer loudly on game day. Shawn had a gift for making people laugh and brought humor and light into every room he entered. He cherished watching movies with his family, playing video games, and especially spending time watching wrestling with his son, Brody, moments that created memories his family will forever treasure. He had a deep love for music of all kinds and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, anything that involved his kids was what he enjoyed most, as they were truly the center of his world. His love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel M. Benway; two grandfathers, Arthur I. Benway, James Ray Alford; mother-in-law, Lisa J. Hilyer; father-in-law, William E. Hilyer.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years Kelley Lynn Benway, New Brockton, AL; two daughters, Allie Benway, Daleville, AL, Alexis Benway, Hartford, AL; two sons, Brody Benway, Matthew Hogan, both of New Brockton, AL; mother; Barbie Alford Cliett (Russell), Daleville, AL; father, Arthur M. Benway (Jonna), Enterprise, AL; brother, Jonathan Benway, Geneva, AL; grandmother, Pattie Sue Alford; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and sisters-in-law.
