Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time.
Born November 15, 1932, to Theo Lee, Sr. and Dale Windham Lee. Theo was the only son in a family with four daughters. He joined his father in farming from a very early age and had a special relationship with the land.
As a dedicated steward of the land, Theo was a leader in the farming and cattle industry. He was honored as Outstanding Peanut Farmer for numerous years and was recognized with many other awards over his career. He served as President of the Dale County Cattleman’s Association. His work ethic was incomparable, and he was always faithful in giving God all credit for the increase of his crops and business.
In addition to farming, Theo’s Christian faith was foremost in his life. He was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church in Clayhatchee, Alabama, where he served his Savior and faith community as a Deacon, Chairman of Deacons, and Sunday School teacher. He also served on various committees until a decline in his health prevented it. On outdoor clean up days, Theo was always the first one to help with a tractor, truck or whatever was needed. His passion for evangelism was the crowning expression of his faith. Many credit his unapologetic sharing of the gospel for their choosing to follow Christ.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Peggy Dowling Lee; his children, Doug (Lisa) Lee of Dothan, AL and Teri (Neal) Weeks of Clayhatchee, AL; beloved grandchildren, Blake Weeks of Atlanta, GA; Brad (Danielle) Weeks of Bellwood, AL; Sydney Weeks of New York City, NY; Ryan (McKenna) Lee of Dothan, AL and Hannah Grayson Lee of Dothan, AL; sister, Christine (Jerry) Hartzog of Slocomb, AL.
Theo was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Evelyn Nolan, Robbie Boykin, and Sara Williams.
