Slayton Charles Shaw of Enterprise, AL passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at his home. He was 78.

Slayton proudly served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to The Southeast Sun/Daleville Sun-Courier, where he was an esteemed IT specialist. His professional talents extended into the realms of graphic design and photography, fields in which he excelled and nurtured a profound eye for detail and creativity.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Slayton was deeply invested in his community. He volunteered for the Paw Prints newspaper at Enterprise High School, contributing significantly by initiating their online newspaper website. His impactful work also included assisting the Wiregrass Emergency Pregnancy Service (WEPS) with their annual fundraising banquet, where he provided essential video services.
Slayton played a crucial role in the website design commemorating the centennial of the Boll Weevil Monument, and his curiosity led him to unearth the origins of this historical landmark. Contrary to popular belief that it was created in Italy, he discovered that it was forged in New York at J L Mott Iron Works during the difficult times of World War I.
A generous spirit, Slayton was always ready to lend a helping hand, often crafting video slideshows for friends mourning the loss of loved ones, capturing memories with grace and sensitivity. He believed in leading a healthy lifestyle, focused on nutrition and regular exercise, reflecting his commitment to well-being.
Slayton was very proud of his son and liked to talk about the things he had accomplished.
Survivors include his son, Forrest Shaw; brother, Graham Shaw (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews.
