Sherrie Faye Hayes

Sherrie Faye Hayes, age 84, of Chancellor, AL, passed away, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Bradley officiating and her nephew, Jason Allums, contributing a loving message. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.

Sherrie was devoted to her family, whom she loved fiercely and supported unconditionally. Whether it was attending game night, cheering on Alabama football, or simply spending time in the garden, her presence brought warmth and joy to those around her.

She had a green thumb like no other, turning every patch of soil into a thriving garden. Her potato salad was legendary and widely considered the best in Alabama, and a staple at every family gathering. Sherrie also had a deep appreciation for old Westerns, often losing herself in the dusty charm of frontier life portrayed on screen. Her strong spirit, kind heart, and unwavering faith left a lasting mark on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Hayes; her parents, Bill Jack Cotter and Inez Cotter; her two sons, Robert Hayes and James Hayes; and her great-grandson, Tucker Dean Caradine

Survivors include her son, William Dean Hayes (Karen) of Chancellor, AL; daughter-in-law, Denise Hayes of Clayhatchee, AL; grandchildren, Alicia Roden (Matt Seward) of Birmingham, AL; Amanda Roden of Clayhatchee, AL; Andrew Hayes (Amanda) of Enterprise, AL; Ashley White (Brandon) of New Brockton, AL; and Hanna Bryant (Austin) of Elba, AL; great-grandchildren, Hunter White, Silas Hayes, and Adalyn Bryant; sisters, Jackie Allums of New Brockton, AL and Billie Gay Willis of Prattville, AL; along with several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pall bearers will be Andrew Hayes, Hunter White, Matt Seward, Austin Bryant, Richard Henry, Brandon White.
