Sarah Frances (Brown) Rice of Daleville, AL passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026 at her home. She was 82.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Daleville Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Peters officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.

Sarah spent her spare time volunteering for many different causes to help others. She would volunteer for Compassionate Hands Hospice and also Greenwood Place in Geneva. She served the youth in Daleville at the Recreation Center. She also volunteered with the Daleville High School Booster Club. Daleville had a special day to honor her for all her activities in the 1980’s. As a military wife, she cared for her husband through all of his military service.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, CW4 (RET) Howard Keith Rice; two sisters, Gayron Tyler and Hilda Hammond; parents, Margaret and Robert Brown; grandson, Jacob Jones; and her in-laws, Edna and Howard Rice.

Survivors include her children, Steve Rice (Ashley), Moundville, AL; Rodney McDaniel (Missy), Chipley, FL; Greg McDaniel (Kim), Dothan, AL; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Phil Brown (Janice), Gulf Breeze, FL; several nieces and nephews.
