Roy Daniel Lindsey of New Brockton, AL passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at his home. He was 81.
Funeral services with Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Corbin Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time.
Roy proudly served his country as a retired E7 in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. A highly decorated war hero, he demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment throughout his military career. Roy served as a door gunner and aircraft mechanic and began his service as a member of the elite Special Forces. His dedication, bravery, and service to his fellow soldiers and country will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
Roy was a skilled gunsmith and a true Jack of all trades, known for his remarkable ability to fix, build, and improve just about anything. A devoted animal lover, Roy shared a special bond with his beloved little dog, Laci, who was always by his side. He enjoyed training, riding, and rescuing horses. Roy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved woodworking, building all the small buildings on his property. Roy enjoyed riding motorcycles, and at one point, he had his own motorcycle shop.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife Rachel Lindsey, parents Lamar Lindsey and Stella P. Lindsey, brother-in-law William Earl Richards.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Harris, New Brockton, AL; son, Roy Michael Lindsey (Betty), Thorsby, AL; three grandchildren, Tiffany Pendergrast (Lucas), Unionville, TN; Heather Littleton (Logan), Jemison, AL; Michael Lindsey, Thorsby, AL; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Pendergrast and Lucas McKinley "Buck" Pendergrast; brother, Foy Henry Lindsey (Linda), New Brockton, AL; sister, Rosetta Richards, Irondale, AL.
