Rodney William Whiting of Enterprise, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Southeast Medical Center. He was 73.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ozark, AL. Burial with military honors will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
Rodney was born May 17, 1952 in Payson, Utah, but grew up in Springville, Utah. After graduating high School, Rodney joined the United States Coast Guard where he served in Yorktown, Virginia. Following his enlistment, Rodney returned with his family to Utah. In 1983, Rodney moved his family to Arizona where he was employed for many years by Motorola. In 2020, Rodney made another move across the country to Alabama to be near family. Here he enjoyed time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed watching them play sports and attending family get togethers. He always had his dog, Sophie, by his side. Rodney will make his final move across the country to be laid to rest near his family in Springville, Utah.
Rodney was preceded in death by his son Sean Whiting, parents Melvin Whiting and Ruth Thorpe, and three brothers Mark Whiting, Marcel Whiting, and David Whiting.
Survivors include his three daughters, Amy Turvey (Scott), Ozark, AL; Jennifer Zuniga (John), Mesa, AZ; Molly Carey (Benjamin), Crescent, OK; son, Ryan Whiting (Shellie), Jacksonville, FL; twenty grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Brent Whiting (Galyn), Spirit Lake, ID; also surviving are several half-siblings and step-siblings.
