Richard Erwin Hoenes of Enterprise, AL passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Noland Hospital at the age of 82. 

Richard loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a competitive swimmer in college graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering which led to his job as a Quality Control Manager for several years as he and his wife began their family. 

After leaving the corporate world, he and his wife were proud small business owners in Rutland, VT for 35 years where they also spent time on their farm before retiring to South Padre Island, TX. He enjoyed walks on the beach with his wife and dogs while serving on the board of Friends of Animals Rescue. His last few years were spent in Alabama continuing his love of fixing things.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pat Hoenes, Enterprise, AL; son, Rick Hoenes (Marcie), Orwell, VT; two daughters, Lori Brock (Clay), Tallahassee, FL; Kerri Howard (John), Eden Prairie, MN; seven grandchildren, Sam, Sarah, Seth (Nicole), Megan (Austin), Ashley, Zach, and Eric; brother, Bill Hoenes (Sam-Nora), South Padres Island, TX; sister, Luise Ray, Sarasota, FL; brother in law Ollie Jakob (Gloria), Enterprise, AL and other loving familymembers.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
