Michael Gregory Whittaker

Michael Gregory Whittaker of Enterprise, AL passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation. He was 75.

Graveside service with Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.

Michael devoted much of his life to service. He retired at Fort Rucker as a United States Army Sergeant Major after 30 years, where he held numerous leadership and specialized roles including Anti-Terrorism Officer, Helicopter Attack Battalions, Intelligence, and Safety. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Michael carried the values of dedication, discipline, and duty throughout his military career. Even after retirement, his commitment to service continued through 20 additional years in Civil Service.

Never one to stop learning or growing, Michael returned to school after retirement and earned a Doctorate in Theology, reflecting his deep faith and thoughtful spirit. Outside of his professional life, he cherished the simple things—peace and quiet, time spent fishing, and relaxing days at the beach. Above all, Michael treasured the moments shared with his wife and family, who were the center of his life and the source of his greatest joy.

He was preceded in death by his son James Whittaker, and five brothers Timothy, Mark, Ronald, Richard and Gary Whittaker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Min Jung Whittaker, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Elizabeth P. Kuss (Johnny), Panama City, FL; son, John D. Whittaker (Sandy), Cliffside Park, NJ; two grandchildren; two brothers, Robin Whittaker, North Carolina; Bruce Whittaker, North Carolina.
