Melissa Kay Fulford

Melissa (Missi) Kay Fulford of Enterprise, AL passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL where she succumbed to injuries from a car accident. She was 56.

Missi was born on December 3, 1968 in Tulsa, OK to Bill Bruce and Paula Shaw. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great friend to many. She was a hard-working painter for the last 16 years. When not working, she loved spending all of her spare time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her animals. She was always taking care of someone or something and took pleasure in doing that.

Memorial services will be held 3:30PM, Monday, August 11, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Anthony Sherrer  officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 PM until service time.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Bruce; mother, Paula Shaw; step-father, Don Shaw; son, Justin Fulford; aunt, Karen Cox; and cousin, David Nairemore.

Survivors include her spouse, Richard Nevels; son, Philip Fulford; stepson and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Stacy Nevels; stepson, Cole Fulford; grandchildren, Elizabeth Fulford, Emma Fulford, Leila Godwin, Lex Caddell, Justin Lewis, Payton Green, Hunter Nevels and Blake Nevels; daughters at heart, Audrey Banks and Crissy Lewis; sister at heart, Sally Knipfel; brother, Michael (Tina) Bruce; long-time boss and close friend Henry Peacock; numerous cousins and other family as well as friends that were her chosen family.

The family would like to thank all the medical teams at UAB that were tremendous in caring for her during her time there, especially the nursing staff in NICU.
