Mary Mildred
Wade
July 2, 1954 – May 3, 2026
Mary Mildred Wade of Springhill, AL passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at home peacefully in her sleep.
At her request, there will be no funeral services. Mary will be cremated, and her ashes, along with those of her husband, will be scattered at a later date during a celebration of life for both of them.
Born on July 2, 1954, in Morrisville, Vermont, Mary lived a full and enduring life. She lived life on her own terms, with a spirit as free as the open road she spent so many years traveling as a truck driver. She found comfort in the simple things—quiet moments with a good book, the steady rhythm of the highway, and a hot cup of coffee never far from reach. She had a love for bowling and a thrill for gambling, always appreciating the excitement and unpredictability they brought. Mary valued her solitude, often preferring peace and independence over the noise of a crowd, and she carried a sharp wit and a candid way of speaking that those who knew her will never forget. Whether she was sharing her thoughts with unfiltered honesty or simply enjoying her own company, she remained unapologetically herself. Though much of her time was spent on the road, her presence left a lasting impression, and she will be remembered for her strength, individuality, and the unique way she moved through life.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Rusty” Wade; her mother, Josephine Whitcomb; her father, Ronald “Bud” Whitcomb Sr; her brothers, Ronald Whitcomb Jr, Dana Whitcomb, Patrick “Mike” Whitcomb; her sister, Ruth Craig; and a great granddaughter Coraline Beckwith.
Mary is survived by her siblings, Marsha Whitcomb, Judith Robbins, Doreen Hand, Lloyd Whitcomb, Debra Whitcomb; her children, Jennifer Leonard (Chris), Ruthie Holmes (Randy Morin), Raun Holmes, Crystal Dills (Charles); her grandchildren, Samantha Girouard (Brant), Erin Cochran (Drew), Sadie Roberts (Lee), Salina Blackmon (Jeff), Sabrina Beckwith (James), Sophia Reddoch, Taylor Holmes, Maggie Morin, Charles Russell Dills, Crystine Dills, Devon Wade; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mary will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
