Lucy Harrison Jordan passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, in New Port Richey, Florida.
Lucy requested no memorial services, A private graveside service will be held to lay Lucy to rest on April 23,2026 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Pasco County, Inc. or any charity of your choice.
Lucy was born in Andalusia, Alabama on January 5, 1946, raised in Enterprise, Alabama, and moved to Florida in 1964 to attend the University of Tampa and remained in Florida for the remainder of her life. She was a fiercely independent woman who charted her own course, never afraid to follow her convictions and live life on her own terms. A self-reliant spirit from the start, Lucy bult a life defined by determination and integrity. Whether pursuing her career as a teacher, traveling throughout the United States and internationally, or tending to her home with care, she approached every endeavor with courage and purpose.
She believed deeply in the value of hard work, the beauty of self-sufficiency, and the importance of standing tall in the face of challenge. She had a special love for animals and shared her life with livestock including horses, pigs and chickens as well as breeding her favorite Boston Terriers. She will be accompanied to her final resting place with memories of her beloved dogs, Little Lucy and Tiny Tim.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Gilmore and Hilma (nee Langford) Harrison and her younger sister Susan Leigh Rivera (John) and brother-in-law Charles R. B. Wyatt, Sr.
She is survived by her older sister Nancy Diane Wyatt of Baltimore, Maryland; nephew Charles R.B. Wyatt, Jr. (Georgia) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; niece Evelyn Diane Wyatt Serpe Vieira (Gus) of Perry Hall, Maryland; niece Celia Ashley Zagula (Brian) of Wesley Chapel, Florida; eight great nieces and nephews: Shannon, Charlie, Chris, Richard, Robert, Christopher, Kevin and Karolina; 4 great-great nieces and nephews: Alec, Zander, Mila and Hugo, and numerous extended family.
The family would like to express their gratitude for her companions Terry Gunter and Karen Bowden and her friend Lara Lopp for the care and kindness shown to her.
