Ltc (Ret) Roger Steven Zupon

November 17, 1952 — January 19, 2023

LTC (Ret) Roger Steven Zupon, age 70, of Daleville, AL, passed away Thursday, January 19th, 2023 in his home. The son of an Army Crew Chief, Roger first followed his father's footsteps, until he decided he liked the view from the front seat better. The fact that he earned 4 sets of wings was always a source of pride. He first came to Daleville in 1980 when he arrived at Ft Rucker for basic pilot training. By the time he graduated, the Wiregrass had become his home, regardless of where he was stationed thereafter. Between periods of active duty, Roger went back to school to earn his nursing degree, working at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. But beyond caring for others and the joy of flying, Roger's primary focus was his love for his family. He was preceded in death in 2012 by his wife, Nancy Zupon. Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Williams (Charles), of Las Vegas, NV; three sons, David Johnston (Jamie), of Scottsboro, AL; Michael Zupon, of Overland Park, KS; and Carter Johnston (Leah), currently stationed in Stuttgart, Germany; seven younger brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory, Enterprise Chapel, followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, any donation to the Alabama Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/al To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Ltc (Ret) Roger Steven Zupon, please visit our flower store.
