Louis Wayne Coles of Enterprise, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at his home. He was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Bowden and Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.
Louis was an avid turkey hunter who loved spending time in the woods. He retired after 29 years as the Area Organization Director for the Alabama Farmers Federation. Born and raised in Brady, Texas, Louis also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and sharing stories with family and friends.
Most of all, Louis loved spending time with his sons and especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kind heart, love of family, and wonderful storytelling.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Coles; two daughters, Shelly Coles Harrell and Kelly Coles Townsend; and his parents, Earl W. and Kittye Ruth Coles.
Survivors include his two sons, Clay Coles, Enterprise, AL; Cary Coles (Rachel), Chancellor, AL; six grandchildren, Emory Townsend, Chance Petty (Amber), Brittany Roberts, Megan Coles, Ashley Shipes (Hunter), and McKenzie Tate; three great-grandchildren, Leland Roberts, River Roberts, and Raelynn Shipes; brother, Glenn Earl Coles (Denise), Franklin, TN; several nieces and nephews
Also surviving is his special friend, Reda Bruce.
