Kim Katherine Sullivan, aged 71, passed away on July 9, 2026. She was born on May 8, 1955, in Stratford, Connecticut to former WWII Marine, Raymond James Shepherd, and pioneer Pan American stewardess, Olga Catherine D'Atre.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Kim would have appreciated donations to Schnauzer Love Rescue or your local humane society.

Kim broke many glass ceilings in her time on earth. She came of age in a post-Title IX world and had a career as a clinical scientist, hospital director, restaurateur, consultant at Georgetown University, and finally, big rig trucker. You could often find her on tennis courts, golf courses, softball fields, skiing, white water rafting, in scuba gear, sewing, sailing, painting, climbing ladders, or riding horses. Kim was a lover of animals. She had dogs, cats, horses, cows, bulls, chickens, roosters, rabbits, alpacas, parrots, geese, ducks, goats, and mules. An avid animal lover, we find comfort imagining her with the many, many, many animals who filled her life with love and companionship.

Kim was an unstoppable force. She bought real estate and rarely spent Christmas in the same house two years in a row. At her many homes, she liked to build barns, fences, mow, hay, haul, and sheer alpacas. Kim lived the life she wanted, did what she wanted, and was unapologetically authentic.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Olga, her ex-husbands Douglas McComb and John Sullivan, her stepson, John Michael Sullivan, and her numerous beloved animals, including a little black schnauzer named Annie.

Kim is survived by her three children, Nathaniel (Rachel) McComb, Peter McComb, Erinn McComb, PhD, stepdaughter Kerry Shepherd (John), and her dog Jilly "Beans." Kim is survived by her grandchildren, Haley and Morgan and her great-grandson, Andrew. She is also survived by her older brothers Jeff (Nellie), Tim (Linda), and her nephew Tim, niece Marissa, and great niece Paighton.
