John Casey Jones

November 19, 1988 — June 9, 2025

Enterprise

John “Casey” Jones accomplished his lifelong goal of giving others the gift of life and peacefully passed into Heaven’s gates at the age of 36 from Dothan, AL on June 9, 2025.

A Celebration of Casey’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at St. John’s Catholic Church’s Fellowship Hall from 2-4 p.m. CT. Casey was a big advocate for the American Cancer Society, the Ronald McDonald House and Camp Smile-A-Mile. In lieu of flowers or food, we ask that all donations be made to Camp Smile-A-Mile by going to https://smileamile-bloom.kindful.com/.

Although he was named for his great-grandfather, John Nelson, a Lieutenant Governor of the Penobscot Indian Tribe in Maine, everyone always called him Casey. Born in Enterprise, AL in November 1988, Casey was loved by his family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and by his pups, Sam and Bryce Barker Jones.

Casey was known for achieving amazing things at a very young age. At the age of 4, Casey had a black-belt in Taekwondo and was the only 4-year-old his friends and family had ever seen with 6-pack abs. As a child, Casey enjoyed playing T-ball, baseball, soccer, gymnastics, and tennis. Growing up, he was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts.

At the age of 10, Casey was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which doctors said would be hard to survive. Through Casey’s strength, faith and determination, the power of prayer from many people in Enterprise and across the United States, through hypnotherapy, chemotherapy and radiation, Casey beat childhood cancer. After conquering cancer, Casey, who was quite reserved for most of his life, and his mother, Dia, began sharing his inspiring story of overcoming against all odds to help motivate others, many who were going through cancer or were helping a friend or loved one beat cancer.

After graduating from Enterprise High School in 2007, Casey earned two associate’s degrees from Alabama Aviation College and began a career as an Avionics Technician. While working in Avionics over the past 15 years, Casey became a certified scuba diver and loved exploring new diving spots.

While Casey was always a hard worker, he always made time to lend a helping hand to his friends, family and co-workers, and he gave from his heart. When he found two starving and sickly puppies that were abandoned and only days away from dying, Casey nursed the puppies, Sam and Bryce, back to health, and they were inseparable after.

After he was injured at work but before his passing, Casey expressed that he wanted to donate his organs to help other loved ones survive. Casey Jones achieved his most amazing accomplishment on June 9th when he gave the gift of life to 4 other families’ loved ones. May we all strive to be as kind and thoughtful as Casey!

Casey is survived by his parents, Ron and Dia Jones of Enterprise, AL, his sister, Kati Jones (fiancé, Brandon Presnell) of Clearwater, FL, his brother, Ron Peterson (wife, Yulie) of Sturbridge, MA, his niece, April Peterson, his nephews, RJ and Lorenzo Peterson, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
