James Franklin Stanley, Jr., passed away Friday, June 20, 2025. He was born December 3, 1947, in Fort Benning, Georgia.
A native of Enterprise, Alabama, Jimmy graduated from Enterprise High School in 1966. He lived in Enterprise for most of his life except for brief periods in Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida. In the last three decades, he spent much of his time at the beach in Sunnyside, Florida.
Known as “Prince” to friends, he worked at Skil, WKMX, Southern Uniform, and Aerus International. Along the way, he earned a Captain’s license for captaining some pretty big boats. Sales were his forte. As one long-time friend accurately noted, “He could sell ice to the Eskimoes.”
A strong Alabama fan, when asked shortly after the selection, “Are we happy with Coach DeBoer?” he gave the true fan’s answer: “Gonna have to get happy.”
He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on 6 August 1962, leading by example for his two brothers who followed him.
He was predeceased by his parents James Franklin Stanley, M.D., and Mary Louise Brooks Stanley.
He is survived by his brothers Harold (Carolyn) Stanley and John (Deborah) Stanley, first cousins Will Stanley and Marion Stanley, Eddie Clark, Paula Clark, and Kenny Clark, as well as life-long friend Tim Brown and Tim’s wife Cathy.
There will be a private family service. A memorial service in Sunnyside, Florida may be announced later.
