Elizabeth Dean Luther

Elizabeth Dean Luther, of Jack, AL passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Troy Regional Medical Center. She was 81.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Elizabeth was a member of Zion Chapel Baptist Church and deeply loved her church family. A passionate traveler and lifelong learner, Elizabeth explored the world with a spirit of curiosity and compassion. Her career as an English teacher took her across the globe, including 3.5 years in China and time in Kurdistan, in Northern Iraq. Over the years, she visited 12 different countries, embracing each culture with openness and enthusiasm. Of all the places she traveled, Turkey held a special place in her heart.

Mrs. Luther was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lillian Bouterse, and grandson Josh Mehaffey.

Survivors include her two daughters, Debbie Luther, Jack, AL; Tammy Luther, Jack, AL; son, Michael Luther (Sheila), Newbern, TN; three grandchildren, Stephen, David (Robyn), Brandy (Brian); five great-grandchildren, Khloe M., Khloe J., Lee, Kennedy and Keaton; two sisters, Judy Young (Bill), Zellwood, FL; Donna Bouterse, Dothan, AL; brother, Steven Bouterse (Shauna), Cumberland Furnace, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
