Edward Allen Gilmore Jr.

Edward Allen Gilmore, Jr. of Enterprise, AL passed away peacefully Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation. He was 93.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating and Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time.

Edward dedicated 35 years of service to the United States Army. Following his military career, he continued sharing his passion for military history through his work at the U.S. Army Aviation Museum. Edward was an active member of his community, enjoying church softball and generously giving his time to others. He volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where his kindness, service, and steadfast faith touched the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alice Gilmore of Pekin, Illinois.

Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Claire Gilmore, Enterprise, AL; three children, Deborah Grim, Enterprise, AL; Stephanie Lusk (Chris), Forest, VA; David Gilmore (Thyra), Prattville, AL; six grandchildren, Chad, Michelle, Kayla, Brittney, Sean and Troy; nine great-grandchildren, Kierstin, Cameron, Allison, Brooklyn, Emma, Gemma, Ethan, Peyton, and Theo; sister, Alyce Cottet (Kenny), Mattoon, IL.
