Charles lived a life defined by diligence, curiosity, and a deep connection to both his profession and his community. He attended Berea College, where he pursued a degree in chemistry, before continuing his education at the University of West Virginia Dental School. Following his graduation, he began his career as a dentist in Chipley, Florida. With a passion for furthering his expertise, Charles went on to attend the University Of Alabama School Of Orthodontics. In 1975, he made Enterprise his home, where he opened an orthodontics practice and faithfully served the community for over 38 years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of patients. Dr. Oliver wanted his patients to have great smiles, but he took equal joy in encouraging them to pursue their education and careers.
A devoted member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and First Baptist Church. Charles was deeply involved in the community he loved. Outside of his work, he found great joy in fishing and hunting, often sharing his love of the outdoors by teaching kids, especially when it came to fishing. He cherished time spent with his beloved wife Joyce and his son Lance. He was especially proud of his daughter-in-law Meghan and his grandchildren, James and Caitlin. He found no greater joy than making his grandchildren laugh and valued meaningful conversations with friends and patients alike, often gathering over morning coffee. An avid reader, Charles had a passion for learning and enjoyed studying what he read, keeping up with current events, news, and politics. He loved listening to talk radio and was known for his strong work ethic and genuine love for people, leaving behind a legacy of service, knowledge, and kindness.
He was preceded in death by six of his seven siblings to include Anita Hall, Kathleen Jennings, Bob Oliver, Joe Oliver, Odus Oliver and Clifford Oliver.
