It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Kaye Skelton of Enterprise, Alabama, on July 11, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Charlie Crowe officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time. She will be laid to rest at a later date in a private family service at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, alongside her beloved husband of 61 years, Harold Ray.
Donna Jones Skelton was born November 19, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana. She attended Lynnville High School, where she was a cheerleader and graduated as valedictorian of her class. In 1961, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Ray Skelton, CW4, U.S. Army (Ret). As a proud and devoted military wife, Donna raised their two sons while Harold served his country with honor.
After raising her children, Donna continued her lifelong commitment to helping others through both community service and professional work. She made meaningful contributions through her roles with the Clark County Housing Authority in Las Vegas, Nevada, Volunteers of America Southeast in Enterprise, and the Chamber of Commerce. Her work reflected her compassion, integrity, and dedication to improving the lives of others.
Donna was also an active member and officer in many civic and service organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary, Civitan Club, Pilot Club, Oscar Club, and the Republican Women of Coffee County. She was recognized as the Oscar Club's Woman of the Year in 2020 and as Civitan of the Year in 2019, honors that reflected her remarkable dedication to volunteerism and community leadership.
Donna is survived by her sons, Steve (Kimberly) and Troy (Karen); five grandchildren, Hallie Sinclaire (Blake), Emily Anne, Caroline Diane, Robert Clarke, and Katherine Lynn; her great-granddaughter, Wren Taylor; and many extended family members who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hallie Opal and Henry Barker Jones; her husband, Harold, and her siblings, Dallas Neal Jones, MSG, U.S. Army (Ret), Wanda Jones Moore, and Geraldine Jones Shanks.
Donna will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and love of life, as well as her unwavering devotion to family, faith, and friends. She treasured time with loved ones and always enjoyed a good laugh. She was the heart of her family and lived by the saying, “Friends are the family we find along the way." Her Christian faith guided her life with grace and generosity. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her.
