Dallas Lloyd Bowers of Newton, AL, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at Flowers Hospital. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CSM Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home, 552 Veterans Parkway, Enterprise, AL 36330.
Dallas proudly served as a pilot in the United States Army, flying the Huey during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he continued his distinguished aviation career as an Instructor Pilot at Fort Rucker, logging thousands of flight hours and shaping the next generation of Army aviators. His courageous actions during this time were recognized with the prestigious Bronze Star, a testament to his commitment and service.
Beyond his military endeavors, Dallas was also an avid poker player and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. In addition to these pursuits, Dallas was a devoted cattle farmer. His love for the land and the animals mirrored his strong work ethic and deep connection to his roots, portraying a man who embraced both the challenges and rewards of rural life.
Dallas was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Bowers, his parents, and two sisters, Elaine Pazdel and Vernice Fletcher.
Survivors include his two daughters, Ginger Schneider, New Brockton, AL; Tracy Driggers (Michael), Samson, AL; son, Shane Bowers (Kristina), Navarre, FL; five grandchildren, Tony Fulmer, Blake Fulmer, Kade Hutto, Colby Hutto, and Lauren Bowers; three great-grandchildren, and his best friend and pal, “Duke”.
