CW4 (Ret) Loy Dean Roper

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Retired CW4 Loy Dean Roper (“Roper”), age 91, of Enterprise, AL, who left us on Sunday, May 10, 2026, surrounded by his wife and daughter.

A devoted father and loving husband, “Roper” was known for his strength and dedication to his country and family. He spent more than 35 years serving in the Army as a leader and helicopter instructor and pilot. His personal passion was gardening; and regardless of where he was stationed, he always had a beautiful garden.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Roper; his daughter, Michele Roper Elrod; six grandchildren, Ann Magill Fleming, William Roper Elrod, Philip Gray Elrod, Loy Dylan Roper, Robin Annette Braddy, and Kourtney Ann Roper; and 11 great-grandchildren.

There will not be a memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Gary Sinise Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 1858, Merrifield, VA 22116 to serve veterans.
