Chuck Oscar Herron of Chancellor, AL, formerly of Des Moines, IA, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at Medical Center Enterprise. He was 79.

Chuck served with honor in the Iowa Army National Guard for 26 years, predominantly within the Military Intelligence field. His service was a defining part of his identity, and he carried immense pride in his role as a soldier. The values of patriotism resonated deeply with him, making the Fourth of July his favorite holiday.

Beyond his military commitments, Chuck had a vibrant and adventurous spirit. He was an accomplished car enthusiast, celebrating the thrill of speed and precision through racing. His passion led him to race for Porsche, a brand he cherished. In addition to racing, he found fulfillment in the automotive world by selling high-performance vehicles, including Porsches, Audis, and Mazdas.

Chuck was also a gifted musician, playing the guitar and lending his voice to a band. He cherished the moments spent with his beloved wife, traveling and experiencing new places together.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Herron.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Jodi Herron, Chancellor, AL; two sons, Dan Herron, Des Moines, IA; Bill Herron, Virginia Beach, VA; daughter-in-law, Denise Herron, Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Lily, Braden, Ethan, and McKenzie.
