Bobby James Godwin, Sr.

Bobby James Godwin, Sr. of Level Plains, AL passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home. He was 93.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life with Military Honors at a later date.

Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter Leigh Godwin and his parents Robert “Oscar” Godwin and Mattie Lee Gilmore Godwin, and stepmom “Molly” Mary E. Windham.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Gerda Godwin, Level Plains, AL; four daughters, Charlene Roberts, Marquetta Ramirez (Bob), Doris Meissner (Wayne) and Sissy Lord (David); five sons, Bobby Godwin, Jr. (Regina), Michael Godwin (Veronica), Christopher Godwin, Anthony Godwin, and Jammie Sisney (Robbin); twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
