Betty LeCompte Walters

Betty LeCompte Walters, a resident of the Union Grove Community of Coffee County, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at her home. She was 85. She was a loving wife of 60 years, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday October 28, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home, with Reverend Randall Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to Service time on Tuesday in the sanctuary prior to the funeral. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2525 County Road 643, Chancellor, AL 36316.

Mrs. Walters was born and lived her life in Coffee County, Alabama, daughter of the late Onyx and Annie Ruth (Nichols) LeCompte. She was a teacher, homemaker, and an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and played the piano. She loved her Savior, church family, and fellowship. Mrs. Walters enjoyed cooking, gardening, friends, and church activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Barney Lomax Walters; three children, Aletheia Walters Johnson (Brad) of Enterprise, Buck Walters (Tina), Clint Walters (Stephanie), all of the Union Grove Community; six grandchildren Melanie and Bo Walters, Breana and Ariana Johnson, Regan and Peyton Walters; brother Danny LeCompte (Kaye) of Auburn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her sons and grandson will be serving as active pallbearers, along with family friends Jonathan Raudales and Danny McIntosh. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Southeast Health Medical Center and Dayspring Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
