Betty Alderman Grimes of Andalusia, AL passed away peacefully Friday, August 14, 2026, at Andalusia Manor. She was 83.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Betty loved to read and was a loyal Auburn football fan. She spent more than 40 years in education as a teacher and guidance counselor at Enterprise High School, Enterprise Jr. High, and Dauphin Jr. High School, helping and encouraging many students along the way. She loved the beach, especially Mexico Beach, dancing with her husband, and playing bridge with her friends. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and made many happy memories with the people she loved. She was a loyal friend and had many lifelong friends.

Family was the most important part of Betty’s life. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were truly her greatest joy. She also loved spending time at the river and on Lake Gantt with her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jim Grimes, daughter Kimberly Ruth North, parents Fletcher and Ruth Alderman, and brother Bud Alderman.

Survivors include her daughter, Garian Gooden (Stan), Andalusia, AL; five grandchildren, Fletcher Ament, Reynolds Gooden, Gareth Gooden, Cooper Gooden Wales (Laf), and Noah Gooden; great-granddaughter, Mila Wales; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
