In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 10 Providence Lane, Daleville, AL 36322.
Bobbie was born in LaFayette, GA on November 27, 1933, to Benjamin and Clara Strickland. They later moved to Ringgold, GA where she grew up and met her husband Richard Waters, who was in the Army. He got stationed in Fort Benning, GA. Shortly after that, he got orders for Japan. She followed him by ship. All four of their children were born at military bases, Tokyo, Japan, Manheim, Germany, Heidelberg, Germany and Fort Rucker, AL.
Bobbie got a job with AAFES at the Fort Rucker PX. She was the warehouse foreman/supervisor. She retired after 26 years in 1989. In 1991, her youngest daughter Elaine (Duggie) passed away and left Bobbie custody of her two children, Cassie (7) and Jamie (4). She raised them as her own.
Bobbie was a devoted longtime member of Providence Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life. She found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
She also had a deep love for the outdoors; she enjoyed gardening and took great satisfaction in working in her yard, often found cutting her grass and tending to the beauty around her. She was known around the community as the pie lady. She loved to bake Pecan Pies and give them to those that were sick or to people for their birthday.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her sons, Gary Waters and John Waters, daughter Elaine Keith, brothers Leon Strickland and Carl Strickland, sister Florine Shadwick, son-in-law Ernie Maye, grandson, Colby Maye and brother-in-law, Bud Shadwick.
Survivors include her daughter, Dede Maye, Clayhatchee, AL; four grandchildren, Cassie McGraw (Jason), St. Mary, GA, Jamie Altgilbers, St. Mary, GA, Chris Maye and Colby May both of Moody, AL; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jillian, Adelei, Jameson, David, Madison and Mackenzie; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Little Bit.
A special thank you to Enhabit Hospice Enterprise, Libby, Tiffany, Ky and Pastor Adam.
